Editorial of a series covering software and tools for Earth System Modelling

This series of booklets aims at bridging the gap between IT solutions and Earth system science. The topics covered provide insight into state-of-the-art software solutions and in particular address coupling software and strategies in regional and global models, coupling infrastructure and data management, strategies and tools for pre- and post-processing, and techniques to improve the model performance.

This series is realised in collaboration with Reinhard Budich (MPI-M) and partners from other institutions worldwide. The series is published by Springer starting in early 2012.
