Meeting people at MPI-M
We have a long tradition of international scientists from all parts of the world working at the institute, and we are glad to introduce them to you. Our staff has good command of English, most speak English fluently. Seminars and meetings are held regularly, mostly in English language. You will be able to meet people wherever you want. General meetings and trips with the staff of MPI-M are organized twice a year, a tradition not only at MPI-M, but in the whole of Germany. A scientific retreat meeting is organised by MPI-M on a yearly basis.

The city offers all the opportunities you may want to meet people. The Max Planck Institute is located in the middle of the very lively university quarter with cafes, restaurants, bars, cinemas, all at walking distance. You will enjoy the atmosphere and be able to meet people whenever you want.

Food in Hamburg
There are a wide variety of foods (meat, fruit, vegetables, spices, etc) available from local shops. Hamburg is a cosmopolitan city, and there are specialist and ethnic quarters with shops and restaurants throughout the city. Asian food shops store a large choice of food (India, China, Japan, Thailand, Korea etc.) and articles. Food in accordance with requirements of various religions can be found in town.
