Welcome at the International Office at the MPI-M

The International Office (IO) provides information and extensive support for new and prospective foreign scientists coming to the Max Planck Institute of Meteorology (MPI-M) in Hamburg. Each year, MPI-M is hosting a large number of visiting graduate students, postdocs and senior scientists from all parts of the world.

Our aim is to make the transitions of your visiting scientists smooth and fast, so they can profit from a successful and exciting work period at MPI-M. The office will help you with the following issues:

  • German and English language courses at various levels (free attendance at the Max Planck Institute)
  • Support for spouses and children of visiting scientists
  • Visa extension procedure and contacts with German Foreign Office bodies
